Bible Quizzing Success!

This last Saturday our fifth grade Bible Quizzers took their first ever trip to compete.  Being a Regional Quiz Meet at the Free Methodist Church in Vincennes, IN, this competition included not only churches from our own Wabash Conference, but also churches from other nearby conferences as well.  Our boys were in a division that included six other teams - also all new quizzers.

Having only lost two rounds all day our boys came out in third place in their division!  (And, just as a side note, first among the Wabash Conference teams in their division!)  ;)

Congratulations to Blake Henson, Joel Henson, Samuel Henson, & Tyler Gray on a great start to their quizzing careers.  We might also say congratulations to the proud coaches, Annita Henson & David Blaize; to the chauffeurs & parents, Jackie Gray & Doug Henson; and to Betty Newton, who showed up to support the team through their first few rounds.  (Always good to have a fan!)

All four boys have expressed interest in quizzing next year.  Plus we have a handful of other teens who have expressed interest in joining them!

If you want to get a jumpstart (or would that be prejump?) on next year's material, we have it on good authority (Mark Scandrett) that we will be studying the book of Matthew, 1984 NIV edition.

Easter schedule!

If you don't already attend a church, consider joining us tomorrow for Easter! We will have a "Sunrise" service at 7:00 with music and a message. (Yes, we know that sunrise is actually earlier, but we didn't think Noelle could get the pastor up any earlier!)
Then at 8:00 we will fellowship together over breakfast provided by our Hospitality Committee. No worries there: they always come up with a tasty selection.
We will not have Sunday School, so our Morning Worship service will start a little earlier than usual: 10:00 to be exact. This year we will be presented with an Easter drama written by Noelle and directed by Dave and Winnie entitled "Now What?" I watched the dress rehearsal this morning and it is definitely worth coming to see.
Bring friends! Bring family! Join our family as we celebrate the fact that Jesus is alive!

Women's Breakfast Schedule Change

The Women's Lenten Breakfast this week (the 16th) will be at Otwell United Methodist Church. We are still unsure about the 23rd. I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

Time Change!

Don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour tonight. If you forget, you will be extremely late for church!

Special Notes for Sunday

Maintenance Offering will be collected during our Fellowship Time in Morning Worship.  Prayerfully consider a gift to this important ministry!

Our Quiz Team will be having their first official practice this Sunday!  It will start at 5:30 and run through 7:00.  We have four excited quizzers ready to take on the challenge and three coaches who are pretty sure they're ready as well.

Wild "Game" Suppers

The speaker for our men's Wild Game Supper will be unavailable on the 23rd, so both suppers are moving to Friday, March 1, at 6:30 PM.
Please remember to email or call Steve Cunningham or Charlie Mathias if you are bringing game or a side dish to the supper.

Weekly Prayer for Others' Ministries

Each week we have a different Wabash Conference church & Free Methodist Missionary listed in our bulletin for prayers.  This week's ministries are:

Free Methodist Church of Olney, IL - under Pastor Steve & Liesl Wingert

Darin & Jill Land, missionaries to the Philippines

View the Lands' page on the Free Methodist World Missions website to see photographs, birthdates, and specific prayer requests.

Fifty Year Anniversary!

If you happen to see Pastor Paul or Betty Newton tomorrow (Sunday) be sure to wish them a happy 50th Wedding Anniversary!
